Persian Information
Silver Persian Kittens have become the most well recognized among all the other Persian coat colors. While they are often confused with white kittens, the silvers have several distinct features that set them apart. Take note of the diagram above.
The most classic feature is the black "eye liner" which outlines their beautiful eyes and button nose. White kittens DO NOT have this feature. The nose pad and paw pads are typically pink in color.
While all kittens are born with baby blue eyes, silver Persian kittens will have either green or golden eyes as adult cats. However, an intense green as grass or blue-green (aqua) coloring is considered to be the breed standard above the striking amber/golden colored eyes. This is particularly true when showing silver Persian cats. Whether your silver Persian has green or gold eyes, there is no doubt that the silver Persian is considered the "fairest of them all".
At birth silver kittens are born a very dark grey, and lighten with age and look near white as adults. They are classified by their white undercoat and black tipping on the ends of their hair, giving them a shimmery look. For many, these majestic felines blossom with age, and are considered to reach their peak beauty potential at approximately 3-5 years of age. Much like a fine wine, time is gracious to this color category.

Shaded Silver vs. Silver Chinchilla
There are two classifications of silver Persians. The lighter of the two is the Silver Chinchilla, near void of all black tipping within the coat giving an almost white appearance. Silver Chinchilla Persians are the type most often confused with the solid white Persian. The undercoat is pure white with an even tipping down their back and tail with minimal markings on the forehead.
The second type is the Shaded Silver Persian. Much darker than the Chinchillas, these cats have a white undercoat with more tipping to the ends of their hair.

Very inquisitive and playful by nature, these highly intelligent felines act very "dog-like". Many silver Persian owners consider their cats and kittens to be an absolute prize to behold! Their luxury looks make them a masterpiece which adds a touch of opulence to the home. From lap cat to constant companion, the silver Persian is one of the most breath-taking coat colors for those looking for a small slice of heaven to add to your heart and home.
